How much wood can a wood pecker peck?

We are fighting the woodpecker, and WP is winning.
Plan A. Hang fake tarantulas on the wall and it will keep WP away. Halloween is just around the corner so fake spiders are an easy find. We found the spider on the ground. Not sure how he got there but assume WP didn't want him on his wall.
Plan B. Put steel wool in the holes. He just makes another hole else where.
Plan C. A spray from the hardware store to keep WP's from eating your house. I think the spray is suppose to make the house taste bad. The 1st spraying didn't do it, today John sprayed it, let it dry and sprayed it again. It may have been to warm to spray the 1st time.
I don't know what Plan D is yet. One thought is to hang up netting over that end of the house but it would have to not touch the house and we have no over hang in the back. We are thinking this through and maybe we can figure something out.
