Back to the prickly

This rainbow cactus is in front of our house and I've never seen it bloom before. I assume we were gone when it bloomed but things are a bit early this season. It is small about 12-15 inches high. Very slow growing as it was here 5 years ago when we moved in to this place.
The news people are talking about rattle snake season. Yuck! I hope I don't see one. If I do, we may up our estimated leave date.
