Day 6, No Sun

My peonies are starting to open up. They must not require sun to bloom. My peonies are having a tough time getting going. They are planted next to the porch, with no railing. Seems a couple times a summer a boy falls off the porch into the peonies.
The birds are trying to build nests on the porch. They must think it is abandoned property. An open porch isn't used much this spring. A deer strolled by the porch yesterday afternoon, the birds must have told her ''Hey, no one lives there''.
The cottonwood trees are doing their thing. It looks like snow flakes falling. I am glad we don't have a screen porch. An open one is much easier to clean up than picking the cotton seeds out of screens. A good wind will do it. John is cleaning the cotton seeds out the fresh air intake, daily. Sometimes twice a day. And the helicopters are falling out of our neighbors big maple tree. Because of prevailing winds, most end up in our gutters. The squirrels do eat them but never could begin to eat all of them. We would have 40 pound squirrels! Ahh, spring in Okoboji.
We bought plants for the west side of the house this week and John got them planted yesterday. That side will be all hostas, no grass. That is my plan, we'll see what the deer think of it. The grass never grew very good on that side. Lack of sun because of to many trees.
Alison, Brock and Aiden are coming this week end. We are hoping for sun and playing outside.
